Standing before the Jewish council, Stephen began his defense not by speaking about himself but by directing everyone’s attention to God. He reminded them that “the God of glory” appeared to Abraham long before Israel became a nation. Stephen’s message established that God’s redemptive plan has always been initiated by His glorious presence and sovereign purpose.
God is the God of glory. His majesty, holiness, power, and splendor are unmatched. Throughout history, He has faithfully revealed Himself, called His people, and accomplished His purposes according to His perfect plan. He alone deserves all worship, honor, and praise.
Our world constantly invites us to admire success, beauty, influence, and earthly accomplishments. Yet every created thing pales in comparison to the glory of God. The more we behold His character through Scripture, the more our hearts are drawn away from temporary treasures and captivated by the One who alone is glorious.
As a Christian, we should intentionally fix our eyes upon the glory of God rather than the distractions of this world. As we admire Him, our worship deepens, our faith grows stronger, and our lives increasingly reflect His character. Beloved, let’s live each day in awe of the God of glory and joyfully give Him the honor He alone deserves.
Acts 7:2 ~ And Stephen said: “Brothers and fathers, hear me. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran.”
