Jesus speaks this in response to the Pharisees questioning why He eats with tax collectors and sinners. In that moment, He reveals His mission… not to affirm the self-righteous, but to reach the spiritually sick. He exposes their blindness… they believed they were “well,” while rejecting the very One who could heal them.
Jesus is the Great Physician… and only those who recognize their need will come to Him. Spiritual healing is not for the proud, but for the humble. God’s grace is always extended toward the broken, the repentant, and the honest heart.
This hits right at the heart… am I coming to Him daily as someone who needs Him, or acting like I’ve got it together? It’s a call to stay soft, surrendered, and aware of my need for Him… and also to extend compassion, not judgment, toward others who are still in process.
As a Christian, we must recognize our daily need for Jesus and refuse the trap of self-righteous thinking. As a Christian, we approach Him humbly, knowing we are continually being healed and restored. As a Christian, we extend grace to others instead of standing in judgment. Beloved, let’s stay close to the Great Physician and walk in humility and mercy.
Luke 5:31 ~ And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.
